Activity: CREST research projects

Geographic location: Coastal zone within Louisiana and Mississippi

Brief activity description: CREST funds projects that promote advances in coastal restoration science. This includes using the freshwater and sediments from the river to restore coastal marshes and so reduce nutrient supply to the coastal zone. All projects are supported following competitive review by outside experts.

Advances in coastal habitat restoration in the northern Gulf of Mexico
Special issue of Ecological Engineering (Vol 26 (1), January 2006. Contains 6 articles on coastal restoration from scientists around the country that were presented at a conference in Thibodaux in July 2003.
